Colten Yamagishi Leads 22 Day 1B Survivors

Colten Yamagishi

There were 132 entries on Day 1B of the DSPT Battle of Alberta Edmonton Main Event at Casino Yellowhead on Friday. There is still one starting day remaining in this $1,100 buy-in $250,000 guaranteed Main Event, so players still have time to get into the action on Saturday.

The chip leader of the 22 survivors at the end of play is Colten Yamagishi (pictured above) with 295,500. Other top stacks were bagged up by Alexander Richmond (267,000) and Dennis Cleaver (257,500). Here are the official chip counts from the end of play:

Familiar faces that did not advance today (but still have the chance to enter again) included Season 1 DSPT Edmonton Champion Ryan Smith and his brother Season 2 Edmonton Fall Main Event Champion Michael Smith, Malcolm Bolger, Cindy Kerslake, Sam Ngai, Jeremy Kemp, Jerry Carter, Deron Noksana, Laurence Louie, Jonathan Sanborn, Ryan Comely, former Season 4 Calgary Spring Main Event champion Josh Wallace, and DSPT Global Ambassador Tristan Wade, who went on quite the comeback run before hitting the rail late tonight.

Day 1C begins on Saturday at Noon. Registration will remain open until the start of Level 10 (approximately 7:30 pm local time). There are 35 players that have already advanced to Day 2 from Days 1A and 1B, and we will see how many more will join them tomorrow. The DSPT live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the action in live updates, chips counts, photos, and videos from Edmonton, Alberta up in Canada. After losing a hand Tristan Wade was left with just 500 in chips. Less than a level later Wade had spun his stack up to 40,000 (20bb), as the entire table was belting out screams and laughter with the improbable comeback. Unfortunately for Wade, his demise quickly followed.
