Jamie Martin Leads 13 Day 1A Survivors

Jamie Martin

There were 73 entries on Day 1A of the DSPT Battle of Alberta Edmonton Main Event at Casino Yellowhead on Thursday. There are still two starting days remaining in this $1,100 buy-in $250,000 guaranteed Main Event, so players still have time to get into the action on Friday and Saturday.

The chip leader of the 13 survivors at the end of play is Jamie Martin (pictured above) with 410,000. Martin emerged as one of the top stacks around the dinner break, and he had a strong rush near the end of play to climb to the top of the pack. Other top stacks were bagged up by Season 4 DSPT Edmonton Spring Main Event runner-up Michael DeGirolamo (281,000 – check out this video interview with him from earlier today), and Chady Moustarah (263,500). Here are the official chip counts from the end of play:

Familiar faces that did not advance today (but still have the chance to enter again) included Ken Vo, Francis Fan, Vince Lam, Jerry Tria, Ron Lauzon, Malcom Bolger, Gerald Lee, Brett Worton, Ryan Schoonbaert, Coltyn Gaetz, and recent Tampa tour stop champion Rex Clinkscales.

Day 1B begins on Friday at Noon. Registration will remain open until the start of Level 10 (approximately 7:30 pm local time). The DSPT live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the action in live updates, chips counts, photos, and videos from Edmonton, Alberta up in Canada. If you’re looking for something to read in the meantime, you can check out these spotlights on Downtown Edmonton, and the West Edmonton Mall.

Another fun feature during the DPST Battle of Alberta is that the player who collects the most points at this stop and the upcoming DSPT Calgary Main Event will win the following prize package:
